AARP California Presents CURED Screening and Panel Discussion
Live Panel on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 5:00pm ET | 4:00 pm CT | 3:00 pm MT | 2:00 pm PT
AARP is excited to invite you to a private virtual screening of the award-winning documentary CURED, which highlights a pivotal but little-known moment in LGBTQ history when activists rose up to challenge a formidable institution — and won! In honor of Pride Month, CURED will be available to stream online from June 24-30. On Wednesday, June 29 at 2pm PT | 3pm MT | 4pm CT | 5pm ET, AARP California will host a live virtual panel discussion about the film featuring the project’s co-directors and one of the trailblazing activists who shares her story in the documentary.
Described as “fascinating” (Hollywood Reporter), “riveting” (The Queer Review), and “one of the best documentaries of this or any year” (British Film Institute) — and the winner of Audience Favorite awards at NewFest and Frameline — CURED takes viewers inside the David-versus-Goliath battle that led the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from its manual of mental illnesses in 1973. The film spotlights a diverse group of activists who achieved this epic victory in the movement for LGBTQ equality. Watch the trailer for CURED.
We hope you’ll be able to join us to watch and discuss this inspiring film!
